Marcin Kurek

Marcin has over 20 years of professional experience in the tech industry.

While still a student in 2004, he started working for the German-US startup Spreadshirt, where he gained early hands-on experience in building and developing online businesses, particularly in the areas of marketing and product.

This experience proved crucial when he successfully launched his own marketplace startup, Niania.pl, in 2008, which later expanded into Grupa Pomocni.

After many years of hands-on operational work, achieving market-leader status and completing a successful exit, Marcin moved to the other side of the table and became an investor.

He has backed and supported numerous outstanding companies at the pre-seed and seed stages, including Docplanner, Preply, Brainly, Shoplo, and others.

His success as an angel investor led him into the VC world in 2012, when he co-founded his first micro-fund. Building on that experience, he went on to co-found Market One Capital in 2017 together with a team of fellow investors.

Throughout his investment career, Marcin has analyzed tens of thousands of startups and participated in approximately 100 investments. His primary areas of expertise and interest include marketplaces and network platforms, consumer tech, healthtech, mobility, and sustainability.

He is passionate about history and sports, particularly football, swimming, and skiing.
